KYOTO, JAPAN (PT. I)
24.05.2019 – 29.05.2019
Kyoto, being the former capital of Japan, is filled with tradition and considered a cultural center of the country. Shrines, lush gardens, artisans, castles, excellent cuisine, and more abound. It’s also famous for the geishas and theatre but that wasn’t of much interest to us. Our time here was filled with adventure. It was so fun to explore alleyways lined with restaurants and bars, never knowing what we would find around the corner. There were several beautiful historic shopping districts, shrines big and small, and gorgeous gardens.
This was probably our favourite city we visited. It was also the hottest part of our trip so tried to take it easy and retreated back to our hotel room for us all to cool off. Evelyn appreciated taking long naps in the AC for a couple of the days. One dinner was particularly excellent as we sat outside overlooking the river. We really had a great time, learned a lot and were excited to see so many new things.

Not easy to get beautiful photos of food with a squirmy baby, but here’s a sampling of what we had. And yes, we ate the whole fish… teeth, head, bones, tail and all. A “one and done” kind of experience.

Thanks for sharing! It sure is fun seeing E in your travels. I would have to pass on eating the WHOLE fish🙃. Love Suzy
